Just a couple of girls and their team of salty sweethearts making hats.
Hi, I’m Jess.
Growing up in the northeast, I had no idea I’d end up in Texas. It didn’t take long to fall in love with Austin, though.
By day you can find me with my students - I’m a Speech- Language Pathologist for individuals with special needs. Weeknights and weekends that I don’t have events for Southern Salt, I’m generally doing the most with my family and friends.
This company is my passion project. I love exploring and expressing the many different pieces of my personality through style and hat design. I am a consummate extravert and I live for meeting new people. Getting to help others express themselves at their events with Southern Salt is literally my happy place.
It’s hard to explain the meaningful side of hat design, but I think about it this way. You know how scents are so strongly attached to memories? Transporting you back to that time in your life. It’s like that. Event based hat design let’s you extend your favorite moments, take them with you. Every time you put on your hat, you’ll be flooded with the memories of the day you got it. The people you were with. Who you were at that time.
Some days when I miss Jersey, I put on a very particular hat, and it feels like I’m home.
Hi, I’m Britt.
I never set out to design hats—I just wanted to help my friend get her business off the ground. At first, I fumbled through the builds, taking all the direction I could from Jess. But before I knew it, I found my confidence, developed the skills, and fell in love with the process. Now, it’s my favorite creative outlet.
By day, I run a couple of companies to satisfy my entrepreneurial spirit, and I get to do that with my husband which feels like a dream. I serve on the board of a non profit and that keeps me tethered to service and humanity.
Southern Salt gives me a whole different kind of fulfillment. It’s hands-on, social, and full of good energy—exactly what I crave. I’ve always loved meeting new people, hearing their stories, and figuring out what connects us. Designing hats is just an extension of that. I talk with people, get a sense of their style, and build something they can’t wait to wear.
Sosa is more than just a side hustle for me—it’s a place where creativity, connection, and good energy collide. And getting to build it alongside my best friend? I couldn’t ask for more. Jess and I have always just clicked and I feel so lucky she chose me to be by her side on this adventure.
Let’s Rage.
